Day 120

Crystal Ball
I've seen some cool crystal ball photos recently and decided to order one and give it a try.
I love how it flips the image and creates a fisheye effect totally naturally!
The only edits here were contrast, colors, and filters but no distortion was added.
Taken with my iPhone.

Day 119

Pre-Soccer Portrait
I bet you didn't even notice my use of the junk food isle as a background.

Day 118

Steel Wool Tube Reflection
I think I have a problem... I can't stop taking steel wool photos.
I'm really excited about how this shot came out with the reflection over the pond and everything,
just as I had planned for it to work!

Day 117

Lens
I almost always use my Canon 24-105 mm lens (pictured), but last night I did some shooting in the rain and used my kit lens.
I forgot how pretty this thing looks when its off camera.
I was looking forward to more light painting tonight but I didn't really get a chance, hopefully later in the week though.

Day 116

Long Exposure
I took this steel wool shot over a stream so you could see the movement of the water and the light painting of the steel wool.
Without editing, the steel wool was very yellow, and distracting from the water.
I made the steel wool a whitish/grey so you can look through it at the moving water.
I'm pretty excited about this shot since I've never really used steel wool in this secondary way before.

Day 115

Netting
Took this shot while on a trampoline.
Looking out through the netting towards a barn in the background.

Day 114

Cloudy Sky
A cloudy sky loomed over Norwich this evening, doesn't look too promising.

Day 113

Falling Rubix Cube
For some reason this shot really reminds me of Alice in Wonderland falling down the rabbit hole with all of the clocks surrounding her.
I feel like this cube is falling and all the lights are swirling around it.
I got the colored lights out of focus by shaking a light up flashy toy right in front of the lens.
Straight out of camera.

Day 112

Steel Wool Orb
An orb is the spherical shape that I made here, it's done by swinging the steel wool while walking in a circle, this way it orbits around one point.
The shape could be a little better but I'll work on it.
The more orange streaks on the right are from me swinging the wool low to the ground after it stopped sparking and was just glowing coals.
I'm pretty excited about this shot because there is a distinct foreground (grass) mid-ground (steel wool light painting) and background (tree line and dark sky).

Day 111

Pens Win
Hans is happy after the Penguins won their playoff game tonight, they now lead the series 2-1.
I'm lucky to have such a photogenic brother, he sure comes in handy for this project.
What would I do without him? ;)

Day 110

Steel Wool
Note sure if I've ever featured one of my steel wool shots on this blog...
There are more on the website here under gallery > night photography if you'd like to see.
I'm looking forward to doing more this spring and summer, hopefully some on the beach!

Day 109

Natural Light
This sweet rainbow streak was caused by the sunlight coming in through a window and then a glass door in my house.
I asked Hans if he would be my subject to make it interesting, so here's the photo that came out.
I'm not sure how or why this light streak happens but I'm looking forward to figuring out more about it and taking some more shots of it.

Day 108

You
Hans points at you in our photoshoot this afternoon.
External flash was to the right of Hans, about one foot off the ground, pointing up at his face.

Day 107

Philly Sunset
Took this during our layover in Philadelphia this evening.
I took it with my phone and edited it with the apps Faded and Fragment.
Faded was simple corrections but fragment was used to make the shape.

Day 106

Two Worlds
I love these photos where the water divides the shot, been meaning to take one for a while now.
Captured with my GoPro while snorkeling today, more photos (some of fish!) here.
Go to Gallery then click on Punta Cana.

Only a few more days here at Punta Cana, gotta make it last.

Day 103

6:00 AM Joy
Hansi doesn't seem too upset considering I made him wake up at 5:30 with me this morning!
Check out more sunrise photos here.

This is a seven image panorama.

Day 101

Palm Tree in the Wind
We arrived in Punta Cana, DR today. It is beautiful!
I think I will have a hard time choosing the photo of the day while I'm here,
as I did today, but I will post all of the best ones on my website.
Go to Gallery and select Punta Cana to view the shots.

Day 100

Vermont Afternoon
I lovely sky above my neighbor's house and barn.
I cannot believe it is already day 100!
I am so proud to have come this far in the project!

Day 99

Boiling
My neighbors were boiling some sap this afternoon so I stopped by to take a couple shots.

Day 98

Flowing
The rivers are flowing nicely with all this snow melting.
I used a shutter speed of 1 second make the water look like this.
I also needed an ND filter to stop down the light a little.

Day 97

Boat Shoes and Blisters
Thanks Emma for the pretty feet, boat shoes and ripped jeans.
This photo was worth the blisters you got on the walk home.

Day 95

Portrait
This a portrait of myself on photo class a few weeks ago.
I finished the developing and enlarging process yesterday, and this is the final product.
I wish I could post some of the recent film photos I've taken, but I have not developed them yet.
More to come soon.

Day 94

16th
I turned 16 today!
Thanks to everyone who made it such a great day :)

Day 93

Smokey Apple
Actually, its not smoke. I got this effect with a long exposure.
The white streaks are actually the path of a piece of string that I waved over the apple.
Here's another similar shot.

Day 92

Perfect Tree
This tree has served as a wonderful subject on many occasions.

Day 91

Spring??
It was awfully nice out today! Maybe spring finally is coming?
Who else is ready to see these in the ground?
